I don't know how many times I've re-read it. I skimmed Billmon's post very quickly. his thrust that the Israelis are good at conventional warfare and rotten at counterinsurgency has a lot of truth in it. They're who the US turned to to learn their tactics in Iraq. Good isn't it? They're also who they turned to toprovide some of the interrogators in Abu Ghraib and Baghram - that worked out really well didn't it? I see that Billmon mentions Sheehan’s “A Bright Shining Lie” That’s a marvellous book. I don’t know how many times I’ve re-read it.
