Resistance assassinates pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade commander in al-Basrah.
In a dispatch posted at 1:30pm Mecca time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters shot and killed a commander in the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades near the al-Kawwaz Mosque in al-Basrah on Sunday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that ‘Ali Jiyad was sitting in a food stall when a car in which were armed men came on the scene. The attackers took the Badr Brigade commander by surprise, and, using a pistol equipped with a silencer, pumped six bullets into him, killing him.
In latest sectarian killing: Sunni Waqf guard imprisoned by puppet authorities found murdered near al-Basrah.
In a dispatch posted at 1:20pm Mecca time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported informed sources as saying that the body of ‘Adil ‘Abd ar-Razzaq Saqr, one of the guards of the Sunni Waqf (pious endowment trust) in the southern city of al-Basrah had been found dumped on the al-Basrah – az-Zubayr road one year after he was arrested by the puppet Interior Affairs department.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that ‘Adil ‘Abd ar-Razzaq was arrested about
one year ago by the puppet “Directorate of Interior Affairs” in al-Basrah, which in actuality is run by the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades.
The correspondent reported that an officer in the puppet police contacted ‘Abd ar-Razzaq’s family two days before his body was discovered to say that the investigating judge had ordered his release after his innocence of the charges leveled against him had been established. The puppet police representative said that ‘Abd ar-Razzaq would be set free on Monday (today). Instead, on Monday family members were shocked to learn that his body had been discovered, and had been taken to the Forensic Medicine Directorate in al-Basrah.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that ‘Abd ar-Razzaq died of three gunshot wounds. One bullet penetrated his eye, the other two were in other parts of his body. The family told the correspondent that they had been threatened by members of the Iraqi puppet “Interior Ministry” not to hold a public funeral for ‘Abd ar-Razzaq.
‘Abd ar-Razzaq, who was born in 1979, was a resident of the Abu al-Khasib area. He was married and had an infant daughter whom he never saw, as she was born one day after his arrest. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the killing comes in the context of a series of attacks on the Sunni Waqf (Pious Endowment) Board in the predominantly Shi‘i city of al-Basrah. Unknown gunmen attacked the house of the Director of the Sunni Waqf in al-Basrah in 2005, shooting at the director. In Ramadan 2005 (4 October – 2 November 2005) a mortar shell blasted into the Waqf office, killing one of the guards.
Several months ago, the correspondent reported, troops of the puppet “Interior Affairs Directorate” attempted to storm the Sunni Waqf Office on the pretext that it was a haven for “terrorists”. Numerous Sunni mosques were also raided and shot at on that occasion.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported informed sources who asked not to be identified as saying that Iranian Intelligence continued to dominate occupied Iraq’s security services under the US-installed Shi‘i sectarian puppet regime. The source said that a sharp struggle has erupted, recently, however, between some Iraqi members of the security service who do not wish to be subordinated to Iran, and others who belong to or are loyal to the Iranian secret services. The Iranians, the source said, have their own techniques in connection with killing their victims, one of them being to set them free and then kill them shortly afterward so as to be able to deny that they were killed in captivity.

All right I googled - you’ve made your point

You noticed :-) Take these stories with several grains of salt. They’re not always accurately sourced.
The US State Dept. in particular doesn’t like them - and they have been known to do - well to do exactly as embedded journalists do day in day out - parrot whatever the spokesman says. That being said if you dig a bit you often find that what they say is true. I’d give a lot of credence to the factual aspects of the report of Abd ar-Razzaq’s body being found for example.
But you’ve spotted what I’m trying to do - point out that this is what is very widely read and believed throughout the region.

So we’ve really done a good job in Iraq - obliterated the infrastructure, brought even more poverty and despair to its citizens and caused a civil war. To borrow a quote from Declan - it’s time to eff off home now!

Pretty much - I’m coming more and more to fear that the longer the occupying armies stay there the more inevitable - and the worse a civil war will be.
At present I think there’s a chance that civil war could be avoided but it’s contingent upon a pretty rapid withdrawal.
